About the Artist
I enjoy dolls so much,
to me they are like my children, they just
mean the world to me. I find that they are
the perfect way to capture a moment in time,
a certain expression, a memory, etc. My 4
children are growing up before my eyes each
day, I long for those days when they were
babies.....though I can never get those days
back, I find that reborning and sculpting
helps me to keep those days close to my
heart.
I often get
asked how did I get my start? Well, I never
intended to become an artist, it was one of
those things that just happened to me by
accident, fate, whatever you may want to
call it. I originally went to university
and obtained my Bachelor of Commerce, I had
always intended to work in a large company
in upper management but after working for
several years in some wonderful companies
and having 3 of my children, I realized what
was important to me and that was being at
home with my children. During my last
pregnancy, I had to leave work early due to
complications and as I sat there for months
waiting for the birth of my baby, I found a
hobby to keep myself busy. I started
crocheting baby clothes, then I thought
about crocheting heirloom baby booties and
selling them on eBay. This was one of my
first experiences on eBay and I just loved
it! As I sold booties for a few months, I
noticed that some of the other sellers has
the word "REBORN" in their titles. I had
never heard of a reborn, I wanted to find
out more about this so I started searching
them out. Once I did that, I was hooked,
wow, I just could not believe that talent I
saw in being able to recreate these dolls
into a lifelike resemblance of a baby. I
absolutely fell in love and I told my self
that I must learn to create one, even if I
was not any good at it, it was something I
had to do. I researched ever bit of
information I could find, buying every
tutorial I could get my hands on until I was
satisfied that I had enough knowledge to
give it a try. That was a little over 18
months ago and I have not looked back. I
have been able to create over 120 reborns to
date and have loved every minute of it. Now
I stay home as a full time mom and create
reborns and sculpts when I have the chance.
About 3
months after I started reborning, I found my
way to polymer clay...again it was something
I was very interested in but had little
knowledge of. I once again did as much
research as I could and started to play with
the clay, finding out just how incredibly
difficult it is to put your ideas into
clay. There were many different clays that
I tried but I found that prosculpt worked
the best for me and allowed me to capture
the detail I wanted in those tiny little One
of A kind baby sculpts that I love so much.
At this time, I have sold over 75 sculpts
and I love that just as much as reborning.
As you can
see I am all about babies, have always loved
them, always will, they will always hold
that special spot in my heart.
